HOW we SERVE

Volunteering with Highway Clean-Up

and eating breakfast before.

Service has always been an essential part of CKI from the very beginning. CKI has three tenets: service, leadership, and fellowship. Not only is service the first tenet of CKI, but it is also first in the hearts of the club members all around the world. In his keynote address at the 1963 Circle K International Convention, Trustee John H. de Boisblanc asswerted, "As we begin this convention, let us relegate to a lesser position for the clamor for larger membership... Let us make our all-prevailing consideration the desire to improve our ability to render service. Let this convention go down as the convention which renewed our faith in service... This concept of service of unselfish devotion to others is among the most noble of human endeavors."

We serve our community in various ways:

  • CKI Service Week: This is a week in which CKI clubs all around the world focus on service in their own communities. CKI's Service Week exists to increase awareness of CKI, the Kiwanis family, and CKI's preferred charities March of Dimes, Students Team Up to Fight Hunger, and UNICEF on college campuses. Up to 13,000 college students participate throughout this week all around the world.

  • The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis clubs, CKI clubs, and UNICEF have all teamed up to help fight neonatal tetanus in various countries around the world. The goal is to raise around $110 million to provide vaccines, syringes, transportation, and thousands of skilled staff in order to help eliminate it around the world.

  • Highway Clean-Up: Our Circle K club helps out our supporting Kiwanis clubs by participating in highway clean-up with them. It is a great opportunity to make a difference in the community, but you also get the opportunity to meet others and see how they use their lives to make an impact in the community as well.

  • THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS! As a self-governing club, we, as members, have the opportunity to choose service projects that we are interested in and that are important to us. Therefore, the possibilities are truly endless, because we have control of what we would like to do.
